After several years of silence from Partagás with regards to new, regular-production releases, the brand introduced the E No.2 to excited cigar aficionados around the world in 2011. Similar to the P No.2 in 2005, the E No.2 was a continuation of the Alphabet Series and a large vitola with a substantial (54) ring gauge.

Upon its release, the E No.2 garnered immediate critical acclaim - it was included on Cigar Aficionado magazine's Top 25 list of 2012 in the #13 spot, and later reached the #3 spot in 2016. Compared to Partagás staples like the P No.2 and D No.4, this Toro is considered a touch milder, with more floral and herbal notes than are typical within the brand.
