Jose L Piedra
The Piedra family emigrated from the Spanish province of Asturias to Cuba in the mid-19th century, settling near Santa Clara and beginning their cigar-making tradition. In the 1880s, the second generation, led by José Lamadrid Piedra, developed the current brand.
Known for their rustic craftsmanship and affordability, Jose L. Piedra cigars are crafted using 100% Cuban tobaccos from the Vuelta Arriba region, which is renowned for its earthy and slightly spicy characteristics.
With the exception of the Petit Cazadores and Petit Caballeros vitolas - which debuted in 2007 and 2019, respectively - all formats were reintroduced in 1996 after the brand nearly vanished from the market in the early 1990s. Today, the several formats of José L. Piedra cigars are produced using the traditional "totalmente a mano, tripa corta" method, meaning they are completely handmade short-fillers.
