Partagas
The Partagás brand is among the oldest of Cuban cigar brands, founded in 1827 by Don Jaime Partagás. Eighteen years later, the first Partagás factory was built - at 520 Industria Street, right behind the Havana’s Capitol - and eventually became the most famous cigar factory in Cuba.
Initially crafted as a series of full-body blends, the modern-day Partagás uses a mellower blend of tobaccos which has helped designate it as among the most popular Cuban brands around the world. This is especially true for the D No.4, which is routinely listed as among the top 2 best-selling handmade Cuban vitolas.
First introduced in the 1930's, the D No.4 was for decades a rare Partagás with a thicker ring gauge. The trend of smaller gauge cigars within the brand began to change in 2005, with the release of the Partagás P No.2 - a torpedo similar to the Montecristo No.2. In 2011, the Partagás E No.2 appeared, along with the D No.5. Since then, Partagás has also released the D No.6 and three vitolas in their Maduro series, all with ring gauges of fifty or more.
In addition to their more substantial handmade vitolas, Partagás also offers a range of slender novice-friendly vitolas like the Mille Fleurs and the Petit Coronas Especiales. This marks Partagás as a great Cuban brand for beginners and veterans alike.
