Originally released in 2009 as part of Drew Estate's Liga Privada No.9 series, the Feral Flying Pig was re-tooled a bit and re-released in 2011 as part of their new Único series. In either format, it's a cigar that has a habit of grabbing a lot of attention.
The heavy spotlight on the FFP begins with the shape - inspired by a photograph of an 1895 cigar salesman’s size-selection case - and the funky cap, twisted into a bun. Then there's the vitola's name, which insinuates a smokier flavour akin to bacon or ham, while the blend is instead heavy on dark chocolate, leather, and coffee bean.
Similar to other Liga Privada cigars, Drew Estate limits the production of the FFP to ensure quality control is high. This means that the Pig can be hard to find at times, but also means it's more of a treat when it can be tracked down.
The Unico Feral Flying Pig is very near a Gordo size in a Figurado shape, and therefore offers a lengthy smoking time of around 90 minutes.
