With its inception being traced back to the early 1970's, Don Tomás is a relatively old and seasoned player in the Honduran cigar space. With their Clasico cigars being fixtures in cigar stores across North America for decades, there is little expectation of experimentation or even new cigar lines from the brand.
But that changed in 2021, when Tomás released the Cincuenta to celebrate their fiftieth anniversary. Even more surprisingly, General Cigar Co. decided to release the series in Canada before distribution in the United States.
With the Cincuenta, Don Tomás was not just celebrating the longevity of their brand but also the virtues of Honduran tobacco by making all Cincuenta cigars into Honduran puros. This included a wrapper from Olancho San Agustín; a Honduran binder; and three fillers: three-year-old ligero from the Jamastran Valley; six-year-old seco also from the Jamastran Valley, and viso from La Entrada.
The Don Tomás Cincuenta Robusto is a medium to full-bodied smoke offering a burn time of approximately 75 minutes.
