Alec Bradley Filthy Hooligan Shamrock Toro

There are two things that make Alec Bradley's Filthy Hooligan series unique: the limited edition status of the series, and the use of Candela wrapper leaf mixed as part of the spiralling "barber pole" exterior.
With just a few thousand boxes made per year - usually for release around St. Patrick's Day - Filthy Hooligan cigars can be hard to get a hold of. The Candela (green) leaf can be tricky to produce, given that the curing process is quite different from standard shade/sungrown leaf, requiring an environment of up to 165°F temperatures to lock the chloraphyll in place. The Candela leaf also gives the Filthy Hooligan a 'throwback' quality, as green cigars were once the most common type on the continent, and only started to become scarce in the early 1980's.
The Candela, in tandem with Maduro and Claro wrappers and Sumatran binder, serves to create an unusual complexity in the Shamrock blend. The Candela imparts a sharp lemongrass flavour, the Maduro serves up notes of leather and cocoa, the Claro tosses some woodiness into the mix, and the Sumatran binder touches the palate with a hint of cinnamon. This Toro is considered medium-bodied and smokes for upwards of 75 minutes.
