For a brand that's only existed since the late 2000's, My Father has racked up a staggering number of accomplishments. In addition to its massive popularity all across North America, it has attracted numerous accolades from Cigar Aficionado magazine. This started with the designation of the My Father No.1 as the third best cigar in the year 2009, followed by number one picks for the Flor de Las Antillas and Le Bijou 1922 series in 2012 and 2015, respectively.
None of this is surprising, though, given that the brand founder Don José "Pepin" Garcia was not only a Master Roller in Cuba (before leaving the country in 2001) but the head of Quality Assurance for the Cohiba brand in the 1990's. His experience and talent - combined with that of his son Jaime - were on full display with the release of the Flor de Las Antillas series in 2012, which was given the top spot for the Toro size in Cigar Aficionado in that same year. The magazine called the FDLA Toro, "delicious from the first puff, with notes of nutmeg, white pepper and just enough strength without being overpowering."
The Robusto offers the same blend as the award-winning Toro, but smokes for a more succinct 60 minutes.
