Sometimes a cigar brand just needs to create a vitola that is so distinct, so special, that it single-handedly gives the entire brand itself name recognition. Such was the case with La Flor Dominicana and the Andalusian Bull.
The uniqueness of the Bull starts with the shape, which could be called a Salomones and was crafted from an old cigar mold that LFD owner Litto Gomez found in Belgium. Then there's the striking green & gold band, which is designed to invoke the spirit of Spain’s famous Toreros. And there's the blend itself, consisting of an Ecuadorian Corojo leaf wrapped around a complex blend of Dominican Criollo '98 tobacco, a hybrid, and a dash of Pelo d'Oro - which is one of the rarest cigar tobaccos due to the difficulty of growing it.
This sensational mixture of style and substance did not go unnoticed by Cigar Aficionado magazine, which boosted sales dramatically by naming the Andalusian Bull the best cigar of 2016. In their review, they pointed out the "strong notes of hickory and leather" in the first third, but that it developed nicely with "a complex spiciness of saffron and cumin." In other words, a sophisticated smoke that offers both heavier and lighter flavours.
Seven years later, Cigar Aficionado reviewed the Bull again and gave it a 93 rating, a testament to its consistency over time.
The Andalusian Bull is a medium-bodied Salomon in a Gordo-type size that smokes upwards of two hours.
