Cigar enthusiasts who were smoking Hoyo de Monterrey cigars before 2014 likely remember how very different the Le Hoyo series was up until then. With all the ring gauges between 30 and 42, Le Hoyos were known as particularly slender cigars with fairly limited appeal.

With the debut of the San Juan in 2014, Hoyo signalled they were going in a different direction; this vitola sports a 54 ring gauge, while the Rio Seco - launched 4 years later - boasts a 56. These larger gauges mean a more intense smoke, but smooth Hoyo flavours are still present, including nut, cinnamon, and cedarwood complete with floral notes.
