Bolivar Belicosos Finos

There are few Cuban cigars that are designated with "classic" status. The Montecristo No.2 to be sure, the Romeo Y Julieta Churchill, and the Partagas D No.4 all have the longetivity, the respect, and the sales numbers to qualify. They are go-to cigars when Cuban enthusiasts think of a Torpedo, a Churchill, and a Robusto, respectively.

When it comes to the Belicoso size, the same could very nearly be said about Bolivar's Belicosos Finos. Although global sales are certainly less than the Monte 2 and the D No.4, the longetivity and the respect are off the charts. The Finos has been around since before Castro took over Cuba, and this vitola only seems to get better with time. Since Cigar Aficionado magazine began their annual Top 25 list in 2004, the BF has landed on it a staggering five times, reaching as high as a number four placement in 2017.

The Belicosos Finos is known to be strong and earthy, but it is hardly one-note. A softer tanginess is known to accompany the earthiness, and a single Finos can impart flavours as diverse as honey, leather, coffee and cedarwood. A Belicoso smokes a bit longer than a Robusto, so a duration of around 75 minutes can be expected. A must-try for those who have built up a tolerance for stronger Cuban tobacco.
